Salonee Bhaman is a scholar, writer, and editor. She lives and works in New York City.

Salonee’s work brings together expertise in historical research, storytelling, digital strategy, and social justice advocacy. She is currently a scholar at the New-York Historical Society’s Center for Women’s HIstory.

She is also co-leader of the New York City-based Asian American Feminist Collective, a grassroots gender justice organization that has been featured in The New York Times, Teen Vogue, NPR, Vice and Ladygunn; a co-founder of the public queer history project Close Friends Collective; and the co-founder and co-editor of Digestivo, a newsletter about food, community, and gathering.

Salonee holds a Ph.D in History and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Yale University. She is working on a book exploring the social, cultural, and political history of the first decades of HIV/AIDS epidemic.
